Silver prices have surged nearly 25% in August 2026 to reclaim the $70 level for the first time in ten weeks, driven primarily by a weaker U.S. dollar and declining Treasury yields after the Treasury doubled longer-dated bond buybacks. Persistent structural deficits, now in their sixth consecutive year, continue to underpin the market alongside resilient industrial demand from solar, EVs, and electronics. Recent July core PCE at 3.7% year-over-year has kept some September rate-hike odds alive, while Fed Chair Warsh’s Jackson Hole remarks and subsequent data releases will shape near-term rate expectations and dollar direction. Traders are watching whether the breakout above $70 sustains or faces resistance near the 200-day moving average around $72.50 amid mixed forecasts for 2026 averages clustered near $70.
