In the Mato Grosso Senate race for the second seat in Brazil’s October 2026 elections, trader consensus remains closely divided among a field of roughly ten registered candidates because no single contender has consolidated clear second-place momentum. Recent closure of candidate filings on August 15 confirmed a broad slate that includes figures such as Carlos Fávaro, Pedro Taques, Beny Godoy, Coronel Darwin, José Medeiros, Margareth Buzetti, Mauro Mendes, Galvan, Janaina Riva, and Professor Nelson Ferreira, with voter intentions appearing fragmented across parties and regions. Limited public polling since July has shown shifting first- and second-preference numbers without establishing a stable hierarchy, while Brazil’s two-seat-per-state system rewards broad coalition-building and turnout among rural and urban blocs alike. Upcoming campaign events and any late alliances could still reorder the ordering before election day.
