Eli Savit secured the Democratic nomination at the August 2026 convention to succeed term-limited incumbent Dana Nessel, facing Republican nominee Doug Lloyd in the November 3 general election. A late August-early September poll showed Savit and Lloyd essentially tied among likely voters with nearly 30 percent undecided and low name recognition for both candidates, suggesting the race may track broader partisan trends. Michigan's Democratic lean in concurrent statewide contests, Savit's fundraising edge, and endorsements from groups such as the Democratic Attorneys General Association appear to underpin trader consensus favoring Savit as the leading outcome. Minor-party and write-in options reflect residual uncertainty in a contest still more than seven weeks away.
