Trump’s approval rating has remained deeply negative in recent national polling averages, hovering between 35% and 40% approve against 57-63% disapprove as of early September 2026. Persistent economic concerns, including voter pessimism over the cost of living, inflation, and the impact of new tariffs on consumer prices, have weighed on sentiment, with multiple surveys showing majorities saying the economy is headed in the wrong direction. The ongoing conflict with Iran and associated energy price spikes have added pressure, while recent tracking polls noted modest erosion even among Republican respondents. These factors have kept weekly approval movements negative in recent periods, aligning with trader consensus reflected in the current market pricing.
