Silver prices near $69 per ounce reflect recent gains fueled by U.S. Treasury bond buybacks that lowered long-term yields, reduced near-term Federal Reserve rate-hike odds, and a weaker dollar, alongside persistent geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Structural market tightness from a projected sixth consecutive annual deficit supports the advance, as industrial demand from solar photovoltaics, AI data centers, electronics, and electrification outpaces mine supply growth. Traders are watching the July PCE inflation release and Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole remarks for signals on monetary policy that could shift rate expectations and dollar strength. These near-term catalysts will likely set the tone for September price action amid ongoing supply-demand imbalances.
