Calvin Hemery, the fourth seed and higher-ranked Frenchman around 276-282, faces Anton Matusevich, ranked near 377, in the opening round of the Troyes Challenger on outdoor clay. Hemery benefits from home-country experience on the surface and consistent recent appearances in challenger events, though he has endured multiple final losses in prior cycles. Matusevich arrives after mixed grass-court results, including a Wimbledon qualifying exit, but holds the lone head-to-head win from their 2023 encounter. The clay-court matchup and seeding gap shape the competitive balance, with resolution hinging on first-set execution and adaptation from recent surfaces.
