Recent National Weather Service and model consensus forecasts for Dallas on September 21 point to a high near 96–97°F amid continued southerly flow of warm, humid Gulf air, with heat indices potentially exceeding 105°F. Afternoon instability introduces a 20–40% chance of scattered thunderstorms, which could cap temperatures if convection develops earlier or spread cloud cover that limits insolation. This uncertainty between upper-90s realization and modest cooling from storms or a weak frontal passage explains the tight clustering of market-implied odds around the 94–97°F bins. Historical September averages near 88°F and the month's ongoing heat anomaly further anchor trader focus on whether the pattern holds or shifts. Updated NWS guidance and short-range model runs over the next 48 hours will refine these thresholds ahead of market resolution.
