This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by the Hong Kong Observatory in degrees Celsius on 1 Aug '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from the Hong Kong Observatory, specifically the "Absolute Daily Max (deg. C)" the specified date once information is finalized in the relevant "Daily Extract", available here: https://www.weather.gov.hk/en/cis/climat.htm This market can not resolve until data for this date has been published. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures in Celsius to one decimal place (eg, 9.1°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Any revisions to temperatures recorded after data is initially published for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.Recent passage of Typhoon Noul, which brought heavy rain and strong winds to Hong Kong around July 26, has left residual cloud cover and moisture that may moderate maximum temperatures on August 1. Official forecasts from the Hong Kong Observatory point to typical late-summer conditions dominated by the subtropical ridge, with high humidity supporting afternoon convective showers that can cap daytime heating. Historical climatology shows August daily maxima averaging near 31 °C, yet inter-day variability from cloud fraction, wind direction, and boundary-layer moisture often produces outcomes clustered between 27–29 °C. Traders appear to weigh these near-term meteorological uncertainties—particularly the timing and extent of any post-storm stabilization—resulting in closely matched implied probabilities across the 27 °C, 28 °C, and 29 °C bins. Updated model runs and observatory guidance expected in the next 48 hours will likely refine the range.
