This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by the Hong Kong Observatory in degrees Celsius on 27 Aug '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from the Hong Kong Observatory, specifically the "Absolute Daily Max (deg. C)" the specified date once information is finalized in the relevant "Daily Extract", available here: https://www.weather.gov.hk/en/cis/climat.htm This market can not resolve until data for this date has been published. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures in Celsius to one decimal place (eg, 9.1°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Any revisions to temperatures recorded after data is initially published for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.**Forecasts from the Hong Kong Observatory and models indicate a maximum temperature on August 27 most likely between 30–32°C, aligning with the market’s leading outcomes (31°C at 36.5%, 30°C at 26.5%, 32°C at 19.5%).** Hong Kong’s subtropical summer climate features strong solar heating and high humidity, but frequent convective showers and thunderstorms—driven by monsoon flow and sea-surface temperatures near 29°C—typically moderate daytime peaks through cloud cover and evaporative cooling. The HKO 9-day outlook projects 27–31°C with a medium-to-high rain probability (70–95%), while extended guidance from AccuWeather and others shows highs in the 29–33°C range amid scattered storms. Seasonal outlooks note normal-to-above-normal August temperatures overall, yet the short-term pattern of unsettled weather lowers the odds of exceeding 33°C. Recent model runs emphasize this balance, with any clearer intervals potentially allowing brief spikes toward 32°C before showers develop. Traders appear to weight these official guidance thresholds and climatological analogs heavily, as the implied probabilities closely track the narrow forecast envelope expected before resolution.
