Persistent high pressure over the Southwest is sustaining a regional heat wave, yet a strengthening marine layer and afternoon sea breeze are moderating temperatures at coastal Los Angeles stations such as LAX. National Weather Service point forecasts for August 26 show highs near 84–87°F at the airport versus 100–101°F downtown, creating the narrow band of trader-implied probabilities around 84–87°F. Model consensus favors limited inland warming penetration to the coast due to southwest winds of 8–12 mph, though any delay in marine-layer arrival or reduced cloud cover could push readings into the upper 80s. The next NWS forecast updates and afternoon observations will clarify resolution within the tightly contested 82–87°F range.
