The Martin mayoral race remains tightly contested ahead of Slovakia’s October 24 municipal elections, with Jozef Petráš holding a narrow lead in trader pricing over Milan Ftorek, Michal Uherčík, and incumbent Ján Danko. A crowded field of independents and party-backed challengers, including recent entrants like Igor Hubáček and Renáta Habrunová, has prevented any candidate from consolidating support. Danko’s delayed confirmation of a third term and calls for opposition coordination have added uncertainty, while local priorities such as city finances, parking policy, infrastructure projects, and university hospital development continue to define the contest without producing a decisive shift. Final candidate lists closed in late August, leaving limited time for differentiation before voting.
