Lukáš Hájek leads the Starostové pro Liberecký kraj (SLK) ticket for the October 2026 communal elections in Liberec, succeeding incumbent Jaroslav Zámečník who stepped aside after two terms, while several other candidates including Tomáš Paleček and Tomáš Rec remain competitive in trader pricing. The tight market reflects a fragmented field ahead of council elections that determine the mayor through post-vote coalition negotiations rather than direct popular vote. Recent party realignments, including the new Libe! grouping led by Tibor Batthyány, have added viable alternatives focused on local governance issues such as transport, education, and municipal asset management. Separation among contenders could emerge from finalized candidate lists, targeted local polling on key voting blocs, or early signals of coalition viability among the larger parties.
