The Chicago Cubs enter the late-June series at Citi Field with a stronger overall record and better standing in the NL Central than the Mets, whose sub-.500 mark reflects ongoing struggles. Recent form shows the Cubs riding momentum from wins including an 8-6 victory over the Rockies, while the Mets notched a 9-1 win behind Nolan McLean's strong outing against the Reds. Key roster notes include the Mets' Francisco Lindor progressing from a calf issue toward a potential return and the Cubs placing starter Jameson Taillon on the injured list with a hamstring strain. Home-field factors at the Mets' park and pitching matchups will shape outcomes, with traders weighing the Cubs' edge in run differential and recent head-to-head history against New York's need for consistent production.
