Pittsburgh Pirates (10-7, 5-3 home) host Washington Nationals (8-9) in Thursday's series finale at PNC Park, tied 1-1 after Pirates' 16-5 rout in the opener and Nationals' 5-4 victory fueled by CJ Abrams' three-hit game with homer. Probable starters Foster Griffin (Nationals LHP, 2-0, 1.76 ERA) and Braxton Ashcraft (Pirates RHP, 1-1, 2.12 ERA) set up a pitcher's duel, with James Wood's NL Player of the Week hot streak (.400+ recently) bolstering Washington's lineup. Both teams manage pitching injuries—Pirates without Jared Jones (UCL, 60-day IL), Nationals missing multiple arms on IL—highlighting bullpen depth and home-field edge as key factors amid Pirates' NL Central lead.
