Japan's depth with world-ranked stars like Miwa Harimoto, who straight-setted Annett Kaufmann, edges their stylistic advantages in spin-heavy rallies and service variation, while Germany's Sabine Winter and Yuan Wan bring resilient forehand loops and recent momentum from European success. No major injuries reported, but late scratches, fatigue from tight scheduling, or table-specific adaptations could tip odds, underscoring table tennis's volatility where upsets thrive on execution.
