Paul Giamatti leads the 2027 Best Supporting Actor market at 47.5% implied probability thanks to strong early buzz for his role in A24’s “The Debut,” which has drawn rave festival reviews and positioned the two-time nominee as an overdue frontrunner. Robert Pattinson (19.7%) benefits from prominent placement in Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” while Sam Rockwell (19.1%) draws on prior Oscar success and “Wild Horse Nine” momentum. The broad field of contenders at lower odds reflects the pre-nomination stage, with guild and critics’ awards still months away and no single performance yet dominating industry narratives. Traders price in the category’s typical volatility, where late reviews, box-office performance, and precursor results can quickly shift consensus before nominations lock in January 2027.
