**Hamad Medjedovic enters as the higher-ranked contender at No. 83 ATP against No. 122 Vilius Gaubas in the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell clay qualifiers, their first head-to-head on outdoor clay courts.** Medjedovic, 22, carries momentum from clinching the Napoli Challenger title on clay late March with straight-set wins over Sachko and Muller, despite an early Marrakech ATP exit to Kopriva on April 1. Gaubas, 21 and Spanish-trained, notched his first ATP Tour win as a lucky loser in Santiago, advancing to the quarterfinals via victories over Soto and Prizmic before a quarterfinal loss to Hanfmann, followed by a Monza Challenger second-round defeat. No injuries reported ahead of this best-of-three-sets qualifier, where recent clay form suggests a competitive bout.
