This market will resolve to “Yes” if Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Lula) participates in a televised Brazilian presidential debate by October 3, 2026, 11:59 PM Brasilia time. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. To qualify, Lula must speak at least once in a debate with at least one other registered Brazilian presidential candidate present, televised live. Virtual live participation will qualify. Prerecorded appearances will not qualify. The primary resolution source for this market will be footage of the debate, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.Lula’s frontrunner status in Brazil’s October 4, 2026 presidential election, backed by consistent polling leads over Flávio Bolsonaro, underpins trader pricing of a 59.5% implied probability that he will join at least one qualifying televised debate before the first round. His campaign declined the initial Bandeirantes-organized debate set for August 23, citing format concerns and the presence of lower-polling candidates, while Bolsonaro’s side signaled a parallel absence. Multiple later slots remain open, including September 14 and September 27, before the October 3 resolution deadline. This selective approach aligns with historical patterns of frontrunners managing debate exposure, leaving room for participation in subsequent events that could shift the current trader consensus reflected in the market.
