In the Barcelona Open qualifiers on clay, No. 107 Matteo Arnaldi faces No. 89 Quentin Halys in a matchup with no head-to-head history. Both arrive off disappointing clay results at Monte-Carlo last week, where Arnaldi lost 6-2, 6-4 to Cristian Garin in the main draw as a lucky loser, and Halys fell 6-4, 6-4 to Emilio Nava in qualifying. Arnaldi holds a superior career clay win rate at 52% (24-22), suiting his baseline game, compared to Halys' 39% (12-19), though the Frenchman carries momentum from a Miami Masters round-of-16 run on hard courts, beating stronger opponents before tiebreak losses to Zverev. Recent form favors neither decisively, with Arnaldi dropping five of his last six overall, highlighting a competitive first-round clash on Rafael Nadal Court.
