In the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell qualifying first round on clay, #102 Benjamin Bonzi faces #108 Jesper de Jong in their first head-to-head matchup, with trader consensus reflecting Bonzi's superior Elo rating (71st vs. de Jong's 147th) and greater ATP experience despite de Jong's recent clay momentum. De Jong reached the semifinals at the Murcia Challenger in mid-March, winning four matches before falling, but has since dropped early exits in Alicante Challenger, Marrakech ATP 250, and Monte-Carlo qualifying—all on clay. Bonzi also exited Monte-Carlo qualifying last week to Roberto Bautista Agut and arrives off hard-court qualifiers in Miami and Indian Wells. No injuries reported; outdoor conditions in Barcelona favor steady baseline play on the slower surface.
