The tightly bunched probabilities for the 2027 Best Adapted Screenplay race reflect an unusually open field this early, with no single frontrunner emerging from the 2026 release slate. La Bola Negra leads trader sentiment at 30% on the strength of its reported critical momentum and guild-adjacent buzz, followed closely by the stop-motion animated Wildwood and Rashida Jones–Will McCormack’s The Invite. Project Hail Mary and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey sit just behind, buoyed by high-profile source material and established creative teams, while Dune: Part Three trails at 15% ahead of its December release. With most contenders still in theaters or pre-release, traders are weighting precursor trajectory, historical academy preferences for literary adaptations, and the absence of a dominant guild or critics’ circuit sweep so far. Key upcoming signals include fall festival reactions, year-end critics lists, and early guild nominations that could clarify momentum before ballots open.
