With over 92% of actas processed by Peru's National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) as of April 16, Keiko Fujimori leads the fragmented first-round presidential vote at around 17%, but trader consensus prices Rafael López Aliaga (62%) ahead of Roberto Sánchez Palomino (37%) for third place, anticipating López Aliaga's strength in remaining Lima urban and overseas ballots—where he dominates—to overtake Sánchez's slim lead of under 30,000 votes. Sánchez surged late via rural southern support already largely counted, amid pre-election polls showing a top-four tussle with Jorge Nieto close behind. Logistical delays extended voting into a second day, sparking fraud claims and slowing the tally toward a June 7 runoff.
