Redistricting last year shifted Texas’s 9th congressional district from a long-held Democratic seat into a solidly Republican-leaning district rated Safe or Solid Republican by major forecasters. With incumbent Al Green seeking another district, both parties held contested primaries that concluded in late May 2026. Republicans nominated Alex Mealer after a runoff victory, while Democrats selected Leticia Gutierrez. The November 3 general election remains months away, but the district’s new partisan composition and the absence of a competitive incumbent have shaped trader consensus around a Republican outcome, with limited near-term catalysts expected to alter the balance absent major developments in the campaign.

A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
