Top-seeded James Duckworth, ranked No. 86, advanced to the Mexico City Challenger quarterfinals on red clay with a dominant 6-3, 6-2 straight-sets victory over Stefan Kozlov in the round of 16, building momentum after reaching the San Luis Potosi Challenger final last week. Challenger specialist Tibo Colson, around No. 470, earned his spot via a gritty comeback win, rallying from a set down to defeat Miguel Tobon 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. The pair meet for the first time in head-to-head on high-altitude clay, where Duckworth's experience and baseline consistency give trader consensus an edge, though Colson's recent form on the surface adds upset potential amid variable Mexico City conditions.
