Tsai Yi-yu's decisive victory in the Democratic Progressive Party primary has established him as the clear frontrunner for the Chiayi County magistrate seat in Taiwan's November 2026 local elections. As the DPP nominee, his legislative record and local ties have consolidated party support in a historically favorable county. Opposition candidates, including Wu Pin-jui and Tsai Sung-yi, face fragmented backing and lower visibility, reflected in their subdued market positioning. Trader consensus aligns with the absence of major recent developments that would shift the race, such as coalition announcements or polling surges from challengers, while the three-month timeline to election day leaves room for standard campaign dynamics like candidate forums or turnout mobilization to influence final margins.
