The tight contest for second place in Rondônia’s 2026 Senate election stems from fragmented voter support across a field of roughly ten registered candidates, with recent polling showing Dr. Fernando Máximo leading but the remaining vote split among Acir Gurgacz, Sílvia Cristina, Bruno Bolsonaro Scheid, Mariana Carvalho, Luciana Oliveira, and others. Candidate conventions and official registrations concluded in mid-August, locking in the field ahead of the October 4 first round. No single contender has consolidated the anti-incumbent or opposition vote, keeping implied probabilities for second place closely bunched. Key variables that could create separation include further polling shifts, party alliances, turnout patterns in key municipalities, and any late endorsements or campaign events before election day.
