Recent National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance positions the September 19 high temperature in New York City near 70–72°F, driving the market’s strong preference for the 70–71°F bin. A cold front has shifted winds to the northeast and east, suppressing daytime warming while maintaining partly cloudy skies and minimal precipitation chances. This setup aligns with climatological norms for mid-September but reflects the current cool air mass rather than seasonal averages near 75°F. Minor model spread in boundary-layer mixing and cloud cover could nudge readings into the upper 60s or low 70s, yet consensus remains tight ahead of the final forecast updates on September 18. Traders are weighting the latest deterministic runs and historical analogs for similar post-frontal regimes.
