This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Tokyo Haneda Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 8 Sep '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=rjtt If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source. In the event that there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C. This market will resolve once the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source, or by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, whichever comes first. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**Trader sentiment for Tokyo’s September 8 highest temperature centers on 28°C as the most probable outcome (42.5% implied probability), followed by 29°C (19.5%) and 27°C (14.5%).** These align with official forecasts showing a daytime maximum near 28–30°C under mostly cloudy skies, scattered showers, and southerly flow. Early September marks the seasonal transition in Tokyo, where the subtropical high weakens and increased cloud cover plus precipitation reduce solar insolation, capping afternoon highs. Current model consensus and observations point to highs around 28–31°C (roughly 82–88°F), with urban heat-island effects and high humidity (often 75–90%) preventing stronger warming. Southerly winds and 30–90% rain chances further moderate temperatures by limiting clear-sky heating. Recent data from multiple sources, including JMA-aligned forecasts and global models, show no heatwave or clear-sky surge that would push readings to 31°C or higher, keeping those outcomes at low single-digit probabilities. The distribution reflects genuine uncertainty around the exact peak—small shifts in cloud timing or rainfall intensity could tip the official maximum between 27°C and 30°C—while historical early-September averages near 28–29°C provide additional context for the market’s tight clustering.
