Fifth-seed Andrey Rublev, ranked No. 15, holds trader consensus as the clear favorite against No. 66 Lorenzo Sonego in their Barcelona Open round-of-16 clash on clay, reflecting Rublev's superior 2026 form (12-7 overall, 2-1 clay) and straight-sets 6-4, 7-5 win over Mariano Navone in the opener. Sonego, returning from a months-long wrist injury—his first match since the Australian Open—edged local Pedro Martinez 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, showcasing resilience but exposing rust. While Sonego leads their clay head-to-head 2-1 (Rublev 4-2 overall), Rublev's career 94-50 clay record and higher-powered baseline game tilt probabilities amid favorable sunny conditions around 19°C. Upset hinges on Sonego's serve and topspin adaptation.
