Gold (XAU/USD) opened the week of April 13 around $4,700 per ounce amid a stronger U.S. dollar index near 99 but has since rallied over 3% to $4,830 by April 16, propelled by DXY's slide to 98 and persistent safe-haven demand tied to U.S.-Iran ceasefire uncertainties. Central bank accumulation, forecasted at 60 tonnes monthly by Goldman Sachs, bolsters the uptrend alongside trader anticipation of Federal Reserve rate cuts later in 2026 despite an expected April policy hold. Volatility persists with intraday highs testing $4,838; traders eye Thursday retail sales and Friday's preliminary PMI data as potential catalysts before week-end resolution.
