Andrey Rublev enters as trader consensus favorite against Lorenzo Sonego in the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell round of 16 on outdoor clay, reflecting his No. 5 seeding, higher ranking around No. 15, and straight-sets first-round dismissal of clay specialist Mariano Navone 6-4, 7-5. Sonego showed resilience rallying from a set down to beat local qualifier Pedro Martinez 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, leveraging his strong clay movement and serve. Rublev leads the head-to-head 4-2 overall but trails 1-2 on clay, with their last encounter a 2025 Toronto hard-court win for the Russian. Rublev's recent Monte Carlo round-of-32 clay loss adds intrigue, but his baseline power suits the surface amid standard weather conditions.
