California's 4th congressional district primary on June 2, 2026, features a top-two advancement system in a district with a strong Democratic lean covering Napa and Sonoma wine country plus Sacramento suburbs. Incumbent Democratic Representative Mike Thompson, first elected in 1998 and serving on the House Ways and Means Committee, faces challengers including fellow Democrat Eric Jones and several Republicans such as Ray Riehle. Early vote counts show Thompson in the lead, with Riehle and Jones competing for the second spot. Key influences include candidate endorsements, fundraising, turnout among Democratic voters, and the district's registration advantage favoring Democrats over Republicans. Official results will determine which two candidates advance to the November general election.
