Incumbent Democrat Josh Gottheimer's bid for a sixth term in New Jersey's 5th Congressional District drives trader consensus toward the Democratic Party at 81.5%, reflecting his strong fundraising, cross-aisle appeal as a Problem Solvers Caucus co-chair, and history of double-digit victories in this suburban battleground despite a crowded 2025 gubernatorial primary loss. The Republican primary field consolidated last week when challenger John Aslanian withdrew on March 30, endorsing Sean Kirrane as the party-backed nominee, but Kirrane lacks Gottheimer's name recognition and resources. With no Democratic primary opposition and primaries set for June 2, traders see limited paths for a GOP upset absent major scandals or national midterm waves, even after Democrats held NJ-11 in the April 16 special election.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
