Tensions between India and Pakistan remain elevated following the May 2025 four-day conflict triggered by a Pahalgam terror attack, during which India conducted Operation Sindoor airstrikes and missile operations against militant infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, prompting Pakistani retaliation and eventual ceasefire mediated in part by external actors. As of September 2026, diplomatic channels stay largely frozen, the Line of Control sees periodic artillery exchanges and infiltration alerts involving groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, and India has condemned Pakistan’s cross-border actions in Afghanistan while disputing the Indus Waters Treaty at the Hague. Traders weigh ongoing LoC security concerns, Pakistan’s acquisition of Chinese defense systems, and a U.S. assessment of moderate conflict risk against the absence of a fresh major trigger, with any new Indian strike hinging on verified militant activity or escalation signals within the market’s resolution window.

For the purposes of this market, a qualifying "strike" is defined as the use of aerial bombs, drones, or missiles (including cruise or ballistic missiles) launched by Indian military forces that impact Pakistani territory (e.g., if an Indian missile or drone hits a target within Pakistan’s borders, this market will resolve to "Yes").
Missiles or drones that are intercepted before reaching Pakistani territory, as well as surface-to-air missile strikes, will not be sufficient for a "Yes" resolution regardless of whether debris lands on Pakistani soil or causes damage.
Actions such as artillery fire, small arms fire, FPV or ATGM strikes, ground incursions, naval shelling, cyberattacks, or any operation conducted by Indian ground forces will not qualify as a strike under this market.
The resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting.
