The tight contest in Louis-Hébert reflects the broader provincial deadlock between the Coalition Avenir Québec and Parti Québécois, with both parties polling in the mid-20s to low-30s range ahead of the October 5 vote. Incumbent Geneviève Guilbault’s retirement has opened the seat, previously a CAQ stronghold at 47% in 2022. CAQ nominee Marc-Antoine Bernier, a local journalist and newsroom director announced in late August, faces PQ candidate Chloé Fauchon, a public and environmental lawyer confirmed earlier in the year. Other contenders, including PCQ’s Marcos Archambault, Liberal Richard Bélanger, and QS’s Anne-Sophie Roy, trail with limited projected support. Trader pricing remains near even because regional polling shows minimal separation between the two leading parties, local candidate profiles are untested in a general election, and key issues such as housing affordability, school capacity, and health services could shift turnout in this Capitale-Nationale suburban riding before nomination closes on September 17.
