**US federal narco-terrorism and cocaine importation charges against ousted Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro remain in pre-trial proceedings, with a June 2027 trial date set in the Southern District of New York.** Maduro and co-defendants, including his wife Cilia Flores, entered not guilty pleas after his January 2026 capture and transport to the United States. Defense counsel has signaled intent to file motions by early September 2026 seeking dismissal on sovereign immunity and related jurisdictional grounds, with arguments scheduled for November 2026. These procedural hurdles, combined with the extended timeline until any verdict, underpin trader consensus that conviction on every count is unlikely. Markets price the “No” outcome at 77 percent, reflecting uncertainty over full resolution through trial, potential plea arrangements, partial acquittals, or pre-trial dismissal rather than a complete sweep of charges. Comparable historical cases and ongoing litigation dynamics further inform this assessment of the path ahead.
