The scheduled June 2027 trial date in the Southern District of New York on narco-terrorism, cocaine importation conspiracy, and weapons charges leaves ample time for pre-trial motions, including sovereign immunity arguments raised by the defense. Maduro and co-defendants entered not guilty pleas following the January 2026 superseding indictment and U.S. capture, with procedural hearings set for November 2026. Historical precedents involving foreign officials, combined with the multi-count structure of the case, support trader consensus that conviction on every count faces substantial procedural and legal hurdles before any verdict.
