**US, Denmark, and Greenland reached a security agreement expanding American military access and barring adversaries from bases or sensitive investments on the island, but no official text has been released as of September 19, 2026.** President Trump announced the pact on September 18 via social media, describing permanent US control over security needs, expanded basing rights, and overflight permissions that would survive any future Greenland independence. Danish and Greenlandic leaders confirmed the framework the same day, stressing that it preserves sovereignty and territorial integrity while enabling stronger North Atlantic and Arctic cooperation. The three parties plan to sign the agreement during the UN General Assembly the following week, after which domestic parliamentary approvals would be required before entry into force. Multiple reports note that full details, including precise language on basing, investment screening, and any economic provisions, remain unpublished, leaving the exact scope open to interpretation. This timing gap between announcement and public text release, combined with the scheduled signing window, forms the core near-term driver for trader assessments of when or by whom the document text will become available.
