Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, an open seat following incumbent David Schweikert’s gubernatorial bid, remains one of the nation’s most competitive House races. Democratic nominee Amish Shah, who narrowly lost the 2024 general election, secured his party’s nomination in the July 21 primary and benefits from residual name recognition plus favorable statewide polling trends for Democrats. Republican nominee Jay Feely, a political newcomer endorsed by President Trump, prevailed in his primary but faces challenges consolidating support in this affluent Phoenix-Scottsdale area that split narrowly in recent cycles. Trader consensus reflects these dynamics, with the Democratic candidate holding a clear but not insurmountable edge ahead of the November 3 general election amid ongoing campaign fundraising and voter outreach efforts.
