China’s official 2026 GDP growth target of 4.5–5% and consensus forecasts from institutions such as the World Bank, IMF, and Goldman Sachs cluster around 4.4–4.8%, anchoring trader expectations for the 4.0–5.0% outcome. First-half 2026 expansion reached 4.7%, supported by high-tech manufacturing, equipment investment, and resilient exports tied to global AI demand, while domestic consumption, retail sales, and property investment remained subdued amid ongoing real estate weakness and soft labor conditions. Recent third-quarter data showing softer industrial output and investment have prompted expectations for incremental fiscal and targeted monetary support rather than broad stimulus, keeping the full-year pace within the targeted band. Geopolitical factors, including oil-price volatility, have added uncertainty but not shifted the central outlook outside 4–5%.
