Forecast consensus from National Weather Service and NOAA models points to a Sunday high near 80°F for New York City, with periods of showers and thunderstorms expected to limit peak temperatures through reduced solar heating and evaporative cooling. Southerly flow ahead of a front is drawing humid air northward, increasing cloud cover and the chance of heavy rain that historically caps daily maxima several degrees below clear-sky potential. This aligns with market-implied odds favoring 78–81°F bins, as traders weigh model spread on rainfall timing and intensity against the September climatological average high of 77.5°F. Updated model runs and NWS briefings through the overnight hours remain the key near-term catalysts for any shifts in sentiment ahead of official observations.
