Republican incumbent Tom Kean Jr. faces Democratic nominee Rebecca Bennett in the November 3, 2026 general election for New Jersey’s 7th congressional district, a competitive seat Kean narrowly held in 2024. Bennett’s June primary victory as a former Navy aviator and health executive, combined with Kean’s extended 117-day congressional absence due to a disclosed medical condition, have strengthened Democratic positioning in trader assessments. Race ratings from Cook, Sabato, and others classify the contest as a toss-up or slight Democratic lean, reflecting the district’s narrow partisan balance and voter focus on local issues. These elements align with the current market consensus favoring the Democratic outcome.
