OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 series currently leads FrontierMath v2 Tier 4 at 83% and legacy FrontierMath at 89%, outpacing Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 and other models, reflecting sustained investment in long-horizon reasoning scaffolds and tool use. Epoch AI’s Open Problems track has already verified three solutions in 2026—a Ramsey hypergraph problem by GPT-5.4 Pro, the 2-adic absolute Galois group via parallel Fable 5 and GPT-5.5 Pro efforts, and a Hadamard matrix of order 668 credited to an Anthropic team—demonstrating that frontier models can produce verifiable, publishable results on previously unsolved research questions. With additional problems queued and verifiers available to leading labs, trader consensus favors near-term resolution on the next official Epoch confirmation, tempered by the benchmark’s small sample size and dependence on human validation.

Any problems that Epoch AI already classified as solved before market issuance will not qualify for resolution. Only problems newly classified by Epoch AI as solved after market issuance may qualify. If Epoch AI adds new problems to FrontierMath: Open Problems after market creation, those problems will be considered for resolution.
This market will resolve solely based on Epoch AI’s classification or official determination that a qualifying problem has been solved, regardless of the degree of artificial intelligence involvement. A verifier-accepted submission, publicly posted solution, partial result, or third-party claim will not qualify on its own unless Epoch AI recognizes the problem as solved.
The primary resolution source will be official information from Epoch AI, including https://epoch.ai/frontiermath/open-problems.
