Chen Yu-jen, the Kuomintang legislator representing Kinmen, stands as the party's sole nominee for the November 28, 2026 county magistrate race after no other KMT figures registered for a primary. Local internal polling has shown her with a substantial lead over declared independents, including former vice magistrate Li Wen-liang, former magistrate Yang Cheng-wu, and academic Liang Wen-tao, amid 78% satisfaction ratings for her legislative record. The Democratic Progressive Party has fielded no candidate, consistent with its limited historical presence in the county, while the incumbent independent magistrate is barred from seeking another term. Candidate registration opens at the end of August, with the KMT's established organizational edge and emphasis on cross-strait stability and local development reinforcing trader consensus around Chen's position.
