The Lebanese Armed Forces completed the first phase by January 2026, deploying over 9,000 troops south of the Litani River and removing thousands of Hezbollah rockets and missiles. A June 2026 Israel-Lebanon framework agreement ties further Israeli withdrawals from buffer zones to verified disarmament across phases, with pilot zones tested in July showing slow progress amid ongoing verification challenges. Hezbollah has rejected full disarmament as a threat to its capabilities and Lebanon's defense, with aligned ministers exiting cabinet sessions and warning of internal strife. External pressure from the U.S., France, and UNIFIL, alongside Lebanese President Aoun's diplomatic outreach, continues to shape the sequenced process, though Hezbollah rearmament reports and lack of a firm timeline beyond initial phases keep outcomes uncertain for markets tied to specific deadlines.
