Lin Kuo-chang, the Democratic Progressive Party nominee, holds the strongest trader consensus in the Yilan County magistrate race ahead of Taiwan’s November 28 local elections, reflecting early polling edges over the main opposition challengers. KMT legislator Wu Tsung-hsien secured his party’s nomination after a February internal poll and outperformed TPP candidate Chen Wan-hui in a joint May opposition survey that tested head-to-head matchups against Lin. With multiple lower-polling independents and minor-party entrants listed, the field remains fragmented, limiting any single opponent’s ability to consolidate anti-DPP support. Recent nomination processes and limited subsequent public surveys have kept the contest competitive, though scheduled campaign events and further joint opposition coordination could still shift momentum before election day.
