Official MetService forecasts for Wellington on September 18 indicate a maximum of 15°C under mostly fine conditions after morning scattered rain clears, with southerlies easing and light northerly winds developing. This aligns closely with the market’s leading 66% implied probability for 15°C, supported by model consensus showing daytime peaks near 14–15°C amid typical spring variability. Recent El Niño influences have produced greater temperature fluctuations and occasional warmer outbreaks across New Zealand, yet local observations and guidance place the day’s high within the narrow 14–16°C range. Updated forecast runs and any late adjustments to cloud cover or wind patterns remain the key near-term variables that could shift resolution.
