Latest MetService forecasts project a daytime maximum of 15°C in Wellington on September 17 amid occasional rain and a northerly-to-southerly wind shift, placing the outcome slightly above the typical September high of 12.5°C. This aligns with the market's leading 15°C (50.5%) and 14°C (32.5%) implied probabilities, driven by model consensus on modest warming from northerly flow ahead of a cold front. El Niño-enhanced spring variability introduces uncertainty in exact peaks, though official guidance shows limited upside risk beyond 16°C given expected cloud cover and precipitation. Resolution hinges on verified observations from central Wellington stations, with any final forecast adjustments likely to reinforce the tight clustering around 14–15°C.
