Cincinnati Reds enter the April 14 opener against the San Francisco Giants at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park with a stronger 8-5 record, sitting second in the NL Central after splitting their recent series with Miami, including two losses in the finale. Giants, at 5-8 and fifth in the NL West, gained momentum by shutting out the Phillies 5-0 and 6-0 to close their series, showcasing improved pitching amid multiple relievers on the injured list like Joel Peguero (hamstring). Probable starters Robbie Ray (2-1, 2.08 ERA) for San Francisco versus the Reds' rotation arm highlight a key matchup, with Giants holding a 6-4 edge in recent head-to-heads and road underdogs facing Cincinnati's home advantage early in the season.
