Trader consensus on Polymarket strongly favors Romuald Wadagni at 75.5% implied probability as Benin's next president following the 2026 election, with Paul Hounkpè trailing at 40.5% as the primary challenger. Wadagni, serving as finance minister, gains from incumbent President Patrice Talon's apparent endorsement and economic stewardship amid growth initiatives. Hounkpè, a key opposition leader and ex-National Assembly president, draws support from reform advocates critical of Talon's electoral restrictions that bar many rivals. Recent developments include Wadagni's high poll leads in surveys by local firms and Talon's signals of succession continuity, though court rulings on candidate eligibility and potential primaries could alter trajectories before voting.
