Gold trades near $4,450–$4,600 per ounce after pulling back from three-month highs near $4,700, reflecting profit-taking ahead of Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole speech and August employment data. Sticky inflation—with July core PCE at 3.3%—has kept September rate-hike odds near 30–34%, supporting a firmer dollar and limiting near-term upside while real yields remain elevated. Central bank purchases continue at elevated levels, providing structural demand, alongside ETF inflows and debasement hedging. Next week’s nonfarm payrolls and subsequent inflation releases will refine market-implied rate paths, with any dovish shift likely to ease pressure on the metal.
